Joe is responsible for working with clients to implement customized estate planning strategies that use techniques such as sales to grantor trusts, generation-skipping dynasty trusts, closely held family entities, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable split-interest trusts and private foundations. He also advises clients on pre-immigration tax planning, outbound expatriation, foreign entities, and trusts.
Prior to Joining Geller Advisors, Joe worked at Anderson Tax as a Managing Director. He assisted clients with Foreign Bank Account Reporting, including filings as part of the IRS offshore voluntary disclosure program and the streamlined process. Joe also negotiated favorable settlements in many federal and state income, estate and gift tax examinations. He also helped clients obtain private letter rulings from the IRS on matters such as generation-skipping transfer tax issues.
Joe received a BBA in Accounting from Bowling Green State University and earned a JD from Brooklyn Law School. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Additionally, Joe has authored several articles, including: Translating Foreign Activities Reporting; Converting to a Roth IRA? Read This First; Navigating the Estate and Gift Tax Maze; Evaluating the Tax Impact of Legal Fees; and New Gifting Opportunities Under the Tax Relief Act of 2010.
